Francesca, a junior from Paola, decided she would study journalism at KU after attending a career conference in the sixth grade. She is a political correspondent and multimedia reporter for The University Daily Kansan, and co-author of the weekly Jayplay column "Bitch & Moan." In the past she has reported, designed, written columns and was a correspondent, correspondent editor and special sections editor. Francesca was also editor of her high school paper, The Reporter, and she has freelanced for the Lawrence Journal-World and the KU alumni magazine. She hopes to use her political science degree to better report international news and presidential campaigns. After graduation, she plans to move to Chicago and aspires to one day become editor of Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report or Time Magazine.
