The mystery of Bill Self’s 2009 recruiting class started to become revealed Friday.

Thomas Robinson, a five-star power forward from Marlboro, Md., orally committed to play basketball at Kansas. Rivals.com ranks Robinson as the 18th best player in the nation.

Robinson is known as being one of the best rebounders in the country in the 2009 class. He averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds per game last season at Riverdale Baptist High School in Maryland.

Robinson transferred to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., where he is currently preparing for his senior season.

Unless players leave for the NBA Draft or transfer from Kansas, Self only has three available scholarships for next season not counting Robinson.

According to jayhawkslant.com, seven of the top 25 players in the nation will visit Lawrence next weekend for Late Night in the Phog.

John Wall, a guard and No. 1 rated player in the nation, and Xavier Henry, a guard and No. 3 rated player in the nation, will be among those seven. Henry and Wall are choosing between Kansas and Memphis.

Robinson also said Kansas and Memphis were his two finalists, but committed to Kansas after visiting the two campuses.
