Hemenway decides to sound the whistle
The famous KU whistle will be returning to campus.

The famous KU whistle will sound again.
University Chancellor Robert Hemenway announced Friday that the steam whistle, which signals the ending of classes, would be turned back on as of Monday.
Hemenway said he decided to have the whistle turned on after hearing several people’s remarks about the whistle being gone.
Hemenway also said he appreciated those who expressed their willingness to support the whistle’s operation by donating money to have it running again. Those who wish to donate can do so at the University’s maintenance fund, which helps preserve campus facilities and infrastructure for current and future students. Maybe we could get some sort of sponsorship for the whistle? The Kivisto family whistle! The Williams Educational whistle?
They could paint a corporate sponsor's logo on the whistle!
Damn straight you're turning the whistle back on!
If you want to save some money how about you take away the gas-powered leaf blowers and lawnmowers from the lazy grounds keeping employees and give them a broom to sweep the leaves and one of those old fashioned push lawnmowers. It might seem like work...but that's what you're supposed to be doing--work! Not just standing around and lazily blowing leaves off the sidewalk.
