KUnited sweeps elections

Also, way to contribute to the conversation, Adam. Your posts about Student Senate are always right on topic, and ever so enlightening. What the heck is the KU community going to do when you're not around to post on Kansan.com??? Seriously. I'm barely surviving now that I don't see you on a tri-weekly basis . . . (the dots are this post dripping with sarcasm :) <3 <3 <3

KUnited sweeps elections

I couldn't find the link either, and I am a pretty tech savvy person. I couldn't even get it on Google. In past years, the link was not on ku.edu, either. The only reason it was on the homepage last year is because I stayed on them about putting it up there - seriously. I don't think too many people realized that, and so no one realized someone needed to remind University Relations that Student Senate elections at KU are a kind of a big deal. Not because anyone outside of Student Senate particularly cares who wins, but because of how much money our student government controls in general and compared with other public universities.

Glad I wasn't there for this election. It's difficult to see an organization you put so much of your life into become such a friggin' joke to everyone.

Future admission requirements may change

I am so pleased to see that the state is taking our low admissions standards more seriously. While I personally believe that students who meet the low admissions standards eventually drop out, raising the admissions standards will increase the value of our degrees by making it look like more intelligent students are receiving degrees from KU than in the past. My hope is that the new chancellor, provost and other administration officials will vigorously pursue this as a top priority. I agree that cancer research and other pursuits by the last administration are important for the community and to the value of degrees and should be continued, however, I believe that University officials should be doing more to directly aid the students of this University in their degree and post-degree seeking efforts than has been done in the last several years.

Freshman found dead on campus was Mt. Oread Scholar, pre-pharmacy major

Ugh. This is not helping to reverse the streotype that KU needs to be a dry campus, or whatever it was that Wren's father was calling for. Please be responsible when drinking all! And please make sure your friends are being responsible too! This is so sad!

Student sexually assaulted Friday

I personally am concerned that I look on Kansan.com on Monday and see a student died, a student was raped and another held at gun point. Yikes! Crime has spiked on campus this semester. I mean crime was high last spring too, but that was associated with the national championship game and it was not life or death situations like this. This is turning out to be the wrong semester to retire the campus saftey fee . . .

Debate addresses campaign funds, economy

So did I . . I think by unable, I think Adam meant the University would not let him . . . there was also a security guard at the debate.

Athletics fee not part of proposed cuts

I'm glad this issue was discussed in an article. Hopefully, making the student body aware of this unfair use of student fees will make students more vocal on the issue and cause the new chancellor to take a more rational approach to this problem.

Presidential candidate’s laptop seized

This is seriously getting ridiculous. Tutu running was just silly, now the University is blowing this way out of porportion. It seriously peeves me that The Kansan has spent about half of its Student Senate election coverage on this issue, in part because the University is making it newsworthy.

Student announces run for Senate with YouTube video

FYI - I was wrong about where he went to HS. BUt I know I am right now. He made the mistake of saying in the Senate Office the next day that he was from the same HS as Mitch Knopp. HA!! And FYI Jack is from Envision too, so by your logic, he should not be seen as a reliable source. And I know that you are a fifth year senior already because you are in the same class and Jack and Dennis. Why are you throwing me under the bus in your comment, Tutu, considering I am supposed to be your friend, and it doesn't really matter where you went to school?
