How about peace between the two sides and a free independent Palestine living side by side with a free independent Israel?
One can dream, right?
One thing is for sure, both sides will have to compromise and give up some of their cherished preconceived notions before this can happen!

Of course banning same-sex marriage -- and especially civil unions -- is bigotry. It might be overwhelmingly popular in KS outside of Lawrence, but polularity doesn't excuse bigotry.
As a side note, I freely admit I am somewhat bigoted against right-wring moralizing self-proclaimed Christians -- but I do NOT want to pass laws that prohibit their religion or make it illegal for them to make contracts.

"Hatred of homosexuals IS bigotry, but whence comes your assumption that "most" Kansans "hate" gays?"
The vote on the gay marriage amendment a couple years ago seems to settle this issue.

"...so it's nice to have dependability from an outside source."
Yeah, they were sure dependable about backups.
Seriously, what a joke!
Did they even apologize to you?

Haven't you guys ever heard of backups? No backing up data is like not owning any insurance...you are courting disaster.
You've probably learned your lesson now, but rather then crying over spilled milk and lost archives, what have you done to make sure it won't happen again? KU is an educational institution, so I would expect that classes in media and technology include a section on backing up? They ought to now, at least.

There are too many people here who are way to biased towards one side or the other.
It seems to me that peace can only come when:
1. Israel accepts the Palestinians right to exist and withdraws from their land.
and
2. The Palestinians accept Israel's right to exist and stop terrorism against Israel.
and finally,
both sides must give up their most cherished goal...Israel must give up on "greater Israel" and accept the Palestinians as legitimate, and the Palestinians must accept Israel as legitimate and give up on the idea that they can "push Israel into the sea"
You can't turn back the clock, and undo what has already happened, you have to be brave and make peace and look forward to building for the future.
