There are many factors involved in the emergence of misconceptions about Islam. Misconceptions can stem from ignorance, incorrect assumptions held by Non-Muslims, stereotyping, and some cultural norms in Muslim societies being wrongly associated with Islam. Growing misconceptions about Islam has created an image crisis for Muslims across the globe, especially here in the US. This situation has put a greater responsibility on Mosques and Islamic Centers to educate Non-Muslims about Islam and commonalities among all faiths. However, the burden of ignorance should not be borne by Muslims alone, other religious institutions like Churches and synagogue should also get involved in this debate to build interfaith bridges.
