A fresh new face for Kansan.com

So as the holiday season nears, we figured it was time to give our faithful web readers a bit of a pre-Christmas present. We're taking the wraps off a redesigned Kansan.com. Here are some of the ways things have changed:

The color scheme has been tweaked to be easier on the eyes and to let the content pop to the reader. Newspaper websites often look like the same black and white page. We wanted something different, so we decided to give the new Kansan.com a more unique look with KU blue accents and better content separation.

We've also got a bunch of new features for you to try out.

You can now link to stories and other content with Social Bookmarks. Add a story or video to your Facebook profile or many other popular aggregation sites like Digg by using the Share button in the story toolbar.

We've partnered with The Associated Press and now the latest headlines are on the homepage for general news, sports, and entertainment. Clicking these links displays the AP story and extra content right on Kansan.com.

Our RSS Feeds have been expanded to include all the news categories that we publish in. Add one to your favorite RSS reader and get the latest Kansan.com stories every day.

Also, some of our best features have been upgraded:

Our archive of issues in PDF format have been completely overhauled. More issues are now available to view, back through 2006. In the coming weeks, the archive will be expanded all the way back to 1999.

Videos are now larger and better quality, with their own dedicated section on the homepage. The new Flash video player loads videos faster and allows for full screen viewing.

The rest of the site has been cleaned up and polished to be more consistent in style and form.

I'd like to hear your feedback on what we've done. If there is something that you catch that's broken or not right, let me know either by leaving a comment or emailing me.

Congrats Kansan.com! Looks great.

I love the new look. Good job.

Wait, I spoke too soon! How do I get to Free-For-All now?

Free For All is under the Features tab. And it works again!
