Student Housing at the University of Kansas has no plans to reopen Oliver Hall, according to an email from University spokesperson Erinn Barcomb-Peterson. Former residents reacted to the news with mixed feelings, recalling memories of unsanitary living conditions that also created a strong bond between students.
Director of Student Housing Sarah Waters said that Oswald and Self residence halls will be closed from May 18 to August 9 as the HVAC and piping systems are replaced, just four years after the halls opened.
Oliver Hall will be closed for at least two academic years for renovations. There will be a 0% rate increase at other dorms.
