The Jayhawks’ season ended on Saturday in upset fashion against Arkansas, and makes for a longer than expected offseason for Kansas. Between Bill Self’s health, the transfer portal, and the NCAA looming over Kansas, there will be plenty of news that could come about until November. 

Jalen Wilson’s career with the Jayhawks came to a heartbreaking end on Saturday, but as he walked off the court wearing the crimson and blue for the last time, one thing remains despite the loss: he’s a winner. 

The Kansas Jayhawks’ season ended with their loss to Arkansas on Saturday; a game in which they had their chances to come out on top.

The Jayhawks came up short against Arkansas 72-71 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Kansas head coach Bill Self has been working with his team on the practice floor throughout the NCAA Tournament but hasn’t coached the Jayhawks since their regular season finale against Texas.

Freshman center Ernest Udeh Jr. could play a critical role against the Razorbacks on Saturday.

The Jayhawk bench has averaged just 10.7 points per game this season, but as Kansas went into the matchup as 21.5 point favorites against the 16-seed Bisons, bench minutes were just an expectation and the “next men up” exceeded it. 

Kansas basketball knocked the Howard Bison out of the NCAA Tournament Thursday afternoon in blowout fashion, winning 96-68. Acting head coach of the team Norm Roberts said it was a great game, but there are some takeaways heading into the second round. 

Freshman guard Gradey Dick had a career game in the Jayhawks’ 96-68 win, recording his first career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. 

The Jayhawks advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with their win over Howard. 

The Jayhawks, who have made 33 consecutive NCAA Tournaments dating back to 1990, are set to play the Howard Bison in the first round of the Big Dance on Thursday with redshirt junior forward Jalen Wilson leading the charge. 

Head Coach Bill Self’s status ahead of Kansas’ opening round game against Howard is still uncertain after being in the hospital last week. 

While the Jayhawks didn't make the NCAA Tournament, they'll still play postseason basketball in the WNIT. Kansas will kick off the WNIT by hosting Western Kentucky on Mar. 17 at 6 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse.
