Runners from the Kansas men's cross country team gather together prior to the Bob Timmons XC Classic at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Jayhawks placed first as a team overall. 

Kansas’ men’s and women’s cross country ran in their big-12 conference races on Friday, Oct. 28. The men’s team took fifth, and the women’s took eighth. Oklahoma State finished at the top of the conference in women’s and men’s. 

Kansas sophomore Peter Walsdorf led the Jayhawks to finish in 27th place with a time of 25:19.1. This was Walsdorf’s second time finishing first on his team.

Junior Chandler Gibbens followed Walsdorf in the finish shoot, taking the 30th spot with a time of 25:30. Sophomores Cale Littrell (42nd, 25:55.5), Sam Hubert (43rd, 26:01.2) and freshman Tanner Talley (45th, 26:07.5) all finished in the top 50 as well. 

The women’s team was led by junior Lona Latema, who finished 34th with a time of 22:11.4. Sophomore Kenadi Krueger finished just behind Latema with a time of 22:11.9. Senior Avryl Johnson (50th, 23:00.0), sophomore Aaliyah Moore (56th, 23:17.3) and freshman Tori Wingrove (61st, 23:26.8) followed suit. 

Both teams will travel down to Columbia, Missouri, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 11.
